Clarifications on the maximum number of persons allowed at mass gatherings by the Minister of Health

In the wake of today’s decisions reached by the Council of Ministers concerning the upcoming lift of restriction measures and following a spate of questions about the status of gatherings, more specifically mass gatherings such as weddings, christenings, concerts, festivals, private get-togethers and any other kind of assembly, the Ministry of Health has clarified that on the basis of the present epidemiological data, the limit of 10 persons for gatherings continues to be in place.

Taking into consideration the current epidemiological indicators and the forecasts for the development of the COVID-19 disease, the Ministry of Health is intent on making the following modifications to the above measure:

1. As of 24 June until 6 July, gatherings will be allowed (physical presence in the same premises/installation regardless of indoor or outdoor space) of up to 50 people indoors or up to 100 people outdoors, providing the sanitary protocols are upheld as regards the ratio of one person per square metres.

2. As of 7 July until 30 August, gatherings will be allowed (physical presence in the same premises/installation regardless of indoor or outdoor space) of up to 75 people indoors or up to 150 people outdoors, providing the sanitary protocols are upheld as regards the ratio of one person per square metres.

3. As of 1st September, restrictions to the maximum number will be lifted in accordance with the sanitary protocols and the Decrees in force at the given time.
It is further clarified that in regard to points 1 and 2 above, simultaneous mass gatherings both indoors and outdoors in the same area are not allowed.
Moreover, it is clarified that as long as the social distancing of square metres per person is observed in accordance with the health protocols, the maximum number of persons is specified above regardless of the size of the area.
