COVID-19; Latest Update on Measures as announced by the Minister of Health which relate to the Christmas and End-of Year Holidays

The Minister of Health, Mr. Constantinos Ioannou announced an update on the current measures to combat COVID-19 as follows:

  1. The measures announced on 9 December 2020 are extended until 10 January 2021. The situation will be regularly assessed by the Scientific Advisory Committee.
  2. On December 24th , 2020, traffic will be allowed until 11 p.m. and New Year’s Eve will be allowed until 1 p.m. and the restriction of 10 people (including minors) , in gatherings at homes, remains.
  3. Recognizing the need of the faithful for church services and provided that the protocol will be strictly implemented in cooperation with the Holy Archdiocese of Cyprus, only for December 25, 2020 and January 6, 2021, the operation of places of worship is allowed in the presence of believers. Maximum attendance will be 75 people, observing the measure of one person per 3 sqm and according to the square meters of space. If there is a need for more believers to attend church, it is recommended that more services be held on the above dates.
