The Cyprus International Businesses Association, celebrated its 25th Annual General Meeting at the Amathus Hotel in Limassol, with exclusive sponsor ASTROBANK. Present at the AGM was the Chairman of ASTROBANK, Mr. Shadi A. Karam, who gave a brief welcome.
The President of the Association, Mrs. Doxia Nikia Hadjivassiliou, gave her address to distinguished guests and esteemed members, stating that Cyprus was now on a steady path of growth and congratulated the President and his government for their hard work and efforts to achieve this. She added that for the International businesses operating in Cyprus, however, there were still issues of concern, namely, the ongoing bureaucracy and banking compliance, amongst others.
CIBA was honoured to have the President of the Republic H.E. Mr Nikos Anastassiades, address the CIBA members in the presence of high ranking officials and eminent guests, signifying his reaffirmation, support and commitment to the International Business community of Cyprus, which significantly contributes to the economic growth and stability of Cyprus. In his address, the President of the Republic, emphasised, his commitment to improving the business environment, which would continue to be his top priority and that the Government was currently implementing a series of new incentives and measures, which included, the simplification of procedures for the faster issuing of permits and licensing of investment projects and operation of businesses, in addition to the speedier granting of residence permits to foreign investors and entrepreneurs on the basis of specific economic criteria.
During the proceedings, Mr. Frixos Savvides, was presented with the CIBA Achievement Award, for his service, dedication and valuable contribution to the Association. It is worthwhile to note that Mr. Savvides, is one of the longest standing Presidents of the Association to-date, serving on the board of CIBA for over 9 years. In his honor, the board created the position of and nominated him as “EX Officio President” of the Cyprus international Businesses Association.
Subsequently, the Annual CIBA Business Excellence Award was presented to Amdocs Development Ltd., in recognition of their outstanding development and continuous growth, in the technological sector. Mr. Yiannis Tinis, the Head of Amdocs Cyprus, was present to accept this award.
