Unofficial Translation:
The Ministry of Health, the Health Insurance Organization and the Cyprus Medical Association, in response to the effects of the spread of coronavirus, are informing citizens of the following:
- If a citizen is experiencing suspicious symptoms related to the coronavirus, he or she should contact by telephone their Personal Practitioner, who will give him/her the initial instructions to follow.
The Personal Practitioner will communicate, wherever and whenever necessary, with the Epidemiological Surveillance and Control Unit of the Infectious Diseases of the Ministry of Health and will jointly decide on the treatment plan for each case and inform the citizen accordingly.
- If a citizen is diagnosed as positive and should be confined to a home, he / she will be monitored by telephone by the Medical Staff, who will provide instructions. Therefore, these citizens need to communicate with their Personal Practitioners and follow their instructions faithfully.
- Given the state of emergency, it is expected that all citizens will cooperate to the fullest and above all, help health professionals stay in action by providing their services during this period. To make this possible, citizens with non-emergency symptoms who do not relate to coronavirus, are urged to address their Personal or Specialist Doctors by telephone. Only in cases of emergency and serious incidents, in the physician’s discretion and after a telephone evaluation, will the public be served by doctors in their own practice. Similar guidelines have already been sent to all GPs.
- In the event that the Personal Practitioner is unable to serve the beneficiaries of his list, he will appoint a substitute Practitioner, who will temporarily serve them. If the Beneficiary has no response from either the Medical Staff or his / her substitute, he / she must notify the Agency at pdavailability@hio.org.cy so that he / she can be immediately supported by the Agency.
All citizens are expected to faithfully apply the above as the successful management of the emergency depends on EVERYBODY. You are urged to comply with the above, in order to facilitate the work of health providers and to ensure as much as possible the minimization of the impact of the pandemic that Cyprus is experiencing. The aim is to ensure the safety and health of all.
