The percentage of employees who undergo a rapid test increases – Which categories of citizens are exempted from the obligation to take a test

Following the decisions of the Council of Ministers, and based on the Decree, dated 23 April 2021, the Ministry of Health reminds that, with effect from today 26 April, the percentage of employees in the private, public and wider public sector, which is subject to the testing for rapid antigen detection on a weekly basis increases to 50% of people physically present at work.

It is clarified that in companies / services, where the number of employees physically present at work does not exceed five (5) people, the test is mandatory for all people.

It is understood that employers have the responsibility for the implementation of the provision of the Decree and must ensure the compliance of their employees with the obligation for weekly inspection.

It is reminded that the following categories of employees are exempted from the obligation to perform rapid antigen test:

  • Individuals holding a valid vaccination certificate against COVID-19 from the Republic, who have completed their vaccination schedule with any licensed vaccine and 14 days have elapsed since the last dose was given, and
  • People who have been positively diagnosed with COVID-19 in the last six months.
