Ministerial Cabinet: SafePass possession controls mandatory with CovScan Cyprus – implementation from 8 November

As per announcement in Greek here, the inspection of Safepass compliance will be carried out on an obligatory basis through Covscan Cyprus (details here in Greek at present) after a decision of the Council of Ministers and in consultation of the Ministry of Health and the Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy.

Therefore, in the establishments / companies where SafePass possession is required, their owners / managers or their authorized employees must, until November 8, ensure that they have the application, in order to carry out the controls. The application can be installed on any device using Android software and is available for free through Google Play. An explanatory video on how the application works is available at the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WFa0Cta2VLw.

The application certifies quickly and securely the validity of the European Digital Certificate (EUDCC) for SafePass purposes and is expected to greatly facilitate the control process.

The control through the application is carried out by scanning the QR code that appears on the certificate (in printed or electronic form) and presents the following validity test results:

  • Green: The certificate is valid and means that the holder has completed his vaccination plan or has passed through COVID-19.
  • Yellow / Orange: The certificate is valid and means that the holder has undergone a PCR or rapid antigen test (rapid test) with a negative result.
  • Red: The certificate is invalid.

It is emphasized that the application was designed in compliance with all the provisions for the protection of personal data, shows only the name and date of birth of the holder and does not store the personal data of the citizen or the history of checks.

We will circulate additional details once available in English.
